Today in Record we had a visitor called Yoshito Darmon, he was a production assistant and worked with cameras allot, he taught us about the aesthetic rules, lighting etc, these are the notes i made in the lesson.
3 Main Aesthetic Rules:
- The rule of thirds
where you divide the picture in 3 so it is more focused and better to concentrate on.
-The lead room
in the picture it looks as though the picture is moving a certain way eg. if there is a picture of a driving car, the picture is taken with space at the front of the car so it looks like the car is going that way.
-The headroom
make space on the top of head
eyes on the line
to show emotion- extreme close up
The white balance
the white balance is a setting on the camera
the main colours are blue, green and red, all three together makes white
light will effect the colour, use white as standard, put it infront of camera and set it.
Depth of field
smaller and greater depth of field
After we made these notes the teacher took us outside for 5 minutes to show us how to use the camera in white balance.
